The Rough Firth is also known as the Urr Estuary. The strong tidal flow means that the whole estuary empties out on the low tides. Despite this drawback, Kippford is a popular sailing village and is home to the Solway Yacht Club. This photograph was taken at low tide looking across the estuary to Auchencairn and Bengairn hill.
