Last Light at Benbane Head
Co. Antrim
Benbane Head is the most northerly point on the mainland in Northern Ireland. Getting to this position below the cliffs is tricky and this must be one of the remote corners of Northern Ireland. It is a fantastic place to watch the sunset, although if you visit at this time you'll have a long walk home in the dark. This cove is also known as Port na Truin owing to the sounds resembling human woe or lamentation that can be heard here on stormy days. This may be due to wave action in the steeply enclosed bay.
