Under the cliffs of Fair Head
Ballycastle, County Antrim,

The boulderfield below the cliff of Fair Head is a wild and spectacular place. Some of the boulders littering the base are as large as houses and have fallen from the clifftop over the centuries. Please be warned that this area is very dangerous, with huge gaps between the boulders where a person might fall and never be found. From this vantage point, the sheer scale of the Fair Head cliffs are apparent. The main wall seen in this photo is 100m high and runs for 4km in length. This wall is a mecca for climbers and is regarded as the largest expanse of climbable rock in the UK or Ireland. There are nearly 400 difficult climbing routes on these huge dolerite walls.
