Carrick-a-Rede is the location of the famous rope suspension bridge which allows the visitor to cross between the mainland and Carrick island. The bridge spans 20m and crosses 30m above the sea below. The bridge is set up March and taken down in October. The island and bridge are owned and maintained by the National Trust. There has been a bridge connecting to the island for over 350 years and it was originally used by Salmon fishermen . Today it is a popular tourist attraction and receives over 200,000 visitors a year.
