Beaghmore Stone Circles,
Sperrins, Co. Tyrone

All photos © Andy McInroy

The megalithic site at Beaghmore in County Tyrone features a large number of stone circles, standing stones and cairns. The stone circles and cairns have been dated back to between 2000 and 1200BC. It is believed that some of the features align to the sun and moon of the solstice, although the accuracy of these alignments is not perfect. The site was discovered in the 1940s during peat cutting and is now in state care. This photograph shows stone circles 'F' and 'G'.
