The northern Black Cuillin from Sligachan
Isle of Skye

The Cuillin are a range of dramatic and rocky summits located on the Isle of Skye. The higher mountains of the Black Cuillin can be seen in this photograph and are a popular place with hillwalkers and climbers. Many of the summits require exposed scrambling to reach. The Cuillin ridge traverse is considered as one of the finest mountaineering challenges in Britain. The ridge is 7 miles in length and typically takes 15-20 hours. This photograph is a view of the northern peaks of the Black Cuillin and from left to right you can see Sgurr nan Gillean, Am Basteir and Sgurr a' Bhasteir.
